On May 11, the Qingdao Council for the Promotion of International Trade (Qingdao International Chamber of Commerce) organized a research and exchange activity in Pingdu City. The delegation, led by Chairman Feng Wenqing, included representatives from 12 member companies. During the visit, they engaged with local enterprises and discussed ways to strengthen international cooperation, improve foreign trade practices, and support business growth. The delegation was met by Zhang Jie, Secretary of the Pingdu Municipal Party Committee, and Xu Jun, Deputy Mayor of Pingdu City.
1. Investigating Business Operations for Improved Efficiency
To enhance work efficiency, the research team was divided into two groups. Chairman Feng Wenqing led a group to visit two prominent enterprises in Pingdu City: Xinguangzheng Group and Wanhui Group. During these visits, the team listened to presentations from the company leaders about their current business operations and future development plans.
The companies shared the challenges they were facing, and the research team, leveraging the resources and platforms available through the Qingdao International Chamber of Commerce (QICC), provided recommendations for expanding their reach into international markets. The team encouraged the enterprises to utilize the platforms and support offered by the CCPIT to enhance cooperation between businesses and foster international trade growth.
2. Creating a Platform for Cross-City Cooperation
With sufficient preparation, the research team had a solid understanding of the business landscape in Pingdu. After engaging with local companies, they successfully facilitated collaboration opportunities. One of the key outcomes was that three Qingdao-based companies engaged in discussions with Xinguangzheng Group and reached preliminary cooperation agreements.
In addition to this, a face-to-face communication event was organized between the members of the Qingdao International Chamber of Commerce and local enterprises in Pingdu. The event provided an opportunity for nearly 20 local businesses to familiarize themselves with the chamber’s member companies and their business operations. Moreover, the Qingdao International Chamber of Commerce introduced its role and services aimed at supporting enterprises in the region. Notably, Yujia Pingdu Company expressed interest in joining the Chamber and applied for membership during the event.
3. Expert Insights on Customs and International Trade Practices
With the recent merger of the entry-exit inspection and quarantine system into customs, many import and export companies have expressed concerns about how this change will affect their operations. In response, the Qingdao Council for the Promotion of International Trade invited Pei Jike, a partner at Jingsh Law Firm, to deliver a lecture on the topic, "Current Situation and Prospects of Customs Inspection Merger".
This lecture covered the crucial aspects of import and export business, including the impact of the customs merger and how companies can adapt to these changes. The lecture was well-received, with enterprises recognizing the value of understanding the regulatory landscape and improving their compliance management.
4. Addressing Exporters' Concerns and Enhancing Support Services
Many of the companies in Pingdu involved in import and export business raised concerns regarding Sino-US trade frictions, the effective development of international markets, and the ongoing need for product transformation and upgrading. The Qingdao International Chamber of Commerce addressed these concerns by discussing relevant support policies for the region’s businesses.
Key suggestions were made to help companies navigate the challenges posed by global trade tensions and shifting market conditions. The chamber also introduced opportunities for businesses to access resources to support their transformation and increase operational efficiency. The focus was on ensuring that enterprises can adapt to changing international dynamics, improve their quality, and achieve sustainable growth.
Conclusion
This visit by the Qingdao International Chamber of Commerce to Pingdu City was a significant step in fostering stronger ties between Qingdao and Pingdu businesses. By encouraging international cooperation, providing expert insights on customs and trade regulations, and offering practical solutions to business challenges, the event showcased the Chamber’s commitment to supporting the growth of export-oriented businesses and enhancing the development of foreign trade practices.
Through ongoing collaboration and the use of the Chamber’s resources, local businesses can gain valuable insights, expand their market reach, and overcome the challenges presented by global trade dynamics.
